Is the inside of her mouth or her tongue dark purple or do they have dark spots on them? Keep looking for these symptoms.

Be VERY CAREFUL with her. I could be Purpura Hemoragica. This is a reaction a horse can have to Strangles or to the vaccine. I do not vaccinate and I have 50 head in a herd that is not closed. This is because I have seen more cases of purpura from vaccinations than from strangles, but they do occur. Purpura is life threatening and requires a LOT of doctoring to save them. Swelling is the first symptom.

My prayers go out to you and your horse. I hope she makes a fast and healthy recovery.

Sorry I havent updated guys. We had my vet out on Sunday. Everything with her is normal. Except the hole is still draining and not healing at all. She still thinks its a foreign body that had gotten lodged. We drugged her and cleaned it really really well. The hole actually goes all the from her chin to her tongue now. She gave us more antibiotics, a prescription rub on antibiotic, and some dexamethesone just in case we have any more swelling. She is gaining her weight back nicely. And is her normal self.
