I started all of my horses on a restricted free feed program where they have forage 24/7 from a small mesh hay net or 2x2 wire grid (see: www.swedishhoofschool.com for some ideas). My x-race horse, who I tried evey collar known to man on, would take a bite of regular feed then crib, has virtually stopped cribbing. This feeding program also eliminates, boredom, wood chewing, stall chewing, feed aggression and a lot of other stall related nasty habits because the horses are no longer hungry inbetween feeding times.
