Thumbs down Cut on Her Foot, HELP!!!

I brought my new horse home today and noticed that she somehow got a cut on her foot. I know that it was on my property but I'm mostly worried about how bad the cut is. Anyone? PLEASE tell me it isn't bad. I put the wound medicine that I have on it but I need to know what to do next? She's not limping or favoring the foot at all so should I just let it be or what? Thanks!

Keep it clean firstly. A nice scrubbing with some Betadine or other wound wash would be good.....personally, I wouldn't wrap it or anything...but others with more experience in wounds might know better than I.

Wound cleansing and some SWAT ointment to keep flies from getting in there and causing problems....would be what I would do...oh, and keeping her out of the mud.

Hopefully her pasture isn't too muddy, though mud is everywhere this time of year.

It doesn't look bad to me.....not sure I'd call the vet in unless there is oozing of the wound, swelling, heat or increased pain.....for now, it looks like something that, if kept clean and fly free, should heal up quickly.

Horses have marvellous circulation in their legs and these things seem to always heal well. Just watch it for infection.

How deep is it? Is the coronet involved?

In the grand scheme of things, that's pretty mild.

If you have any Vetricyin, give it a spray of that for a few days, and the horse should be fine.
