Deer flies? ANYTHING??

Does anything at all help against deer flies? I tried all different types of sprays (including homemade), but nothing seems to work....

Those things are terrible here! Try Swat. I love that stuff. I believe Farnam makes it. Just rub it on their ears, around their eyes, on their sheath, anywhere where the flies are a major problem.

My hand works great! Evil little *(&*^&*%*%**& er's. I HATE deerflies, they leave really nasty bites all over poor Sodehr.

I'll try the Swat though too. And a new fly mask...

Thanks, guys! I'll try swat. I do keep mask on and we don't have many of those in field. It's all about trail riding - for the past 2-3 weeks the whole ride is nothing but me slapping the horse's neck and ears with my hand or whip (depending on distance from me to the fly). Come into worse even - now they stop and WAIT for me to kill the fly before they move forward again.

LOL, Soda will probably figure that out soon. Right now he just starts stomping/kicking/biting at the fly, but last time I wacked one you could almost see the light bulb.
