depressed? or too many meds.

My 12 yr old gelding has had a host of problems recently, most notably a salivary gland infection which was radically treated with metronidizole and iv penecillin. Very poorly, and lost condition. Now on pro biotics and equijoule and eating well, bar colic last week, which thankfully passed very quickly.
Vet reckoned as a result of strong antibiotics. His diet is currently being assessed and modified to improve digestion and condition.
I thought he was on the mend, back in light work. Recently he just doesn't seem to have the energy, like he can't be bothered. He's normally very spooky & highly strung, he's alert enough, ears pricked etc but no spooking - not a bad thing but its not him. He responds but is behind my leg and no bounce.
Generally, he seems happy enough but kinda under the weather, lethargic even. Eating well, stools normal. Thinking if getting vet to check bloods to be sure.
Maybe meds have really knocked him for 6? Or could he be depressed?

Do you have him on any type of multivitamin? The meds might have just wiped him out and he needs a little boost.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.

No vits, just glucosamine and probiotic.

So, update on my boy. Turns out he was a bit anaemic after his ordeal. Had him on a multi vit & iron blood tonic orally for ten days, have just changed his feed to a low starch feed for sensitive stomach and continued probiotics. Finally he seems to be turning a corner and getting back to his usual self
