Does he look better?

I've had him since the 1st week of August and we've been trying to fatten him up since. The first picture are the week we got him and the pictures of him wet are from right now.

I'd say he looks a lot better, and happier too!

I do think he's looking better. Coat looks shinier, and not as lean looking.

Looks like he's had to endure a pretty bad fitting saddle in his past- hopefully once he's at your target weight you'll be able to make sure his new saddle fits him well.

Keep us updated on his progress!

Definitely better. I do think his ideal will still show a few ribs due to his conformation, so be careful not to overfeed him. I'd say he's just about there.

Looking great! As said, the overall picture is much better, not just his weight, he looks well cared for!

Good! It's hard to tell seeing him everyday. Yes, it seems he has had an ill fit saddle in the past. I'm researching saddles now so hopefully I can get a proper fit when he puts on weight. I logistically don't know how it's done though. Do you just buy a saddle in store or online and hope it fits? And if it doesn't hope the store takes returns? For now, I'm just riding him in this cool bareback saddle.

Here's a pretty good saddle fitting video. It's not as good as having a saddle fitter come to you but then not everyone is able to do that (none of them around here).

There's also the seat trick - saddle your horse and work them until they start sweating. When you remove the saddle the horse's back should be evenly wet with no dry spots anywhere the saddle touches your horse. This is not a comprehensive way to check saddle fit but when used in conjunction with the tips in the above video I think you'll get a pretty good fit to your horse's back.
