Hello all. I'm in the process (the final stages, woo!) of bringing home a 16 year old Standardbred mare. She is a retired racer turned broodmare, and has been for the last 10 or so years. She is in decent shape for an older broodie (no swayback, her belly isn't stretched out from multiple foals - she was very well cared for), but I can only assume she wasn't worked regularly. As a retired harness racer, her muscles have been developed differently than those of a riding horse and I would like to slowly condition her for light riding, arena work and trails.
In addition to conditioning her slowly through hill and jogging work, I would like to do some massage on her and work on bending/flexing. I've found some videos online for massage, but would like to know what websites/tutorials/videos YOU swear by. Do you have any tips/advise for me?
