Equioxx Question

Hi all -

I'm looking for some more info on Equioxx tablets - more specifically the directions. It states to give 1 tab daily for up to 14 days. I'm wondering why only 14 days? Is that 14 days every month, every few months?

Just curious!

Does anyone have more info or can clarify?

*I am not currently using it, I was just reading about it today and wondering*

Thanks! :runninghorse2:

1. Equinox is by prescription only. That means the vet will tell you how to administer it.

2. It depends how many milligrams the pills are and what the vet is treating, as to how long the horse should stay on it.

It is an NSAID used to control pain and inflammation for types of arthritis.

It can also be used to relieve founder discomfort, as opposed to Bute which is much harder on the stomach and more apt to cause gastric ulcers.

Yup check in with the vet as it's rx anyways.

Like medication in people, there's what it says on the bottle then what the doctor says which isn't always the same- and is ok as the doctor has enough training so say otherwise is ok for you. You just don't want to use any more medicine then you need to.

I know horses that have been on Previcox for years.
