My horse is 24 and still showing and going super strong. He is starting to feel stiff in the beginning of our rides and I would like to put him on a supplement. I am currently deciding between actistanatin and spartpak senior. Which you anyone suggest or do you have any other suggestions?

I'm using Total Joint Care Performance for my horses. I'm aware it's on the expensive side, but the stiffness my 25 year old mare was showing has disappeared. I've been giving it for about six months. My other mare has not shown signs of arthritis yet, but she is over 20 also and I use her hard so I give it to her also.

It has really good reviews on Smartpak.
Since it is a powder, I mix it with a little water so it sticks to the horses' grain.

Along with what Gottatrot suggested, I'm a fan of and seen results from Cosequin ASU +(plus) . Of course what works for one horse / person may not work for another so you might have to try a few before you find one that will work. ;-)

I had used Smartpak Senior but noticed the caveat not to use with horses that have possible GI irritation. My guy had been on every other day previcox as well, but seemed to have loose manure and diminished appetite, so off he came from that, too.

I really didn't notice much difference in his way of going while on both those supps (a year). I took him off and have found CMO or Cetyl-M. Its meant to reduce inflammation due to arthritis. I've noticed he's pretty supple with his back swinging, even when its colder than usual here.
