filly feed info

We just purchased a clydesdale/quarter filly she was just weened we have a nice place with many ranch horses and work to do all around, we have many ranch horses but this is our first draft cross we keep our horses till they pass on so we want to start her correctly so she has good foundation what are some feeding schedules and products that you with draft horse experience have found to work really well, we feed grass with a little alfalfa and a scoop of vitamins every morning to our other 8 horses now.

I give my filly frisky foal 1kgper 100kg, and all she can eat hay. (timothy, brome, maybe alfalfa if any. free choice mineral salt block.
Curious to see what others say.

I'd be feeding her as any other 'easy keeper' horse; grass/hay 24/7, preferrably low NSC, or if not, grazing limited & low NSC hay provided over risky periods. Some alfalfa and whatever appropriate minerals & other nutrients may be needed in order to balance her diet, including omega 3s(flax seed a good source). So it sounds like you're doing pretty well!

If/when she needs more energy, more hay, alfalfa, and healthy, high fibre, low starch feeds such as beet pulp, rice bran, etc are good energy sources. is one great resource for info & analysis on diet & nutrition.
