First aid kit items explanations???

Ok so I have read a lot of the pages of the first aid kit sticky and it gave me a great idea of what to put in a kit, but my problem now is that I do not know what half of the stuff is for and how to use it!

So could I get some help on understanding the essential items?

Also if anybody would be willing could you tell me some basic types of wounds and how to treat them?

Thanks a bunch!
