I hear the fly predators doesnt work will all types of flys.. I get this really strong stuff that I have to dilute with water and I don't spray it on them.. I spray it kinda on this car washing type cloth glove I put over my hand and rub it into them.. it works really well...

Thanks to all the replies, I have a sulpher block but she doesn't seem to use it much.I don't know about the fly pedators, she is kept on a pasture about 3 acres, she only comes up to the barn area for water. Do the predators work for horses in pasture?

Knowing what kind of fly predator to get is half the battle. You first need to identify the fly.

Here is a new one on me, but a friend in California said that a stable she knows of there swears by it: you put 4 shiny pennies in a ziplock baggie full of water and tack it up by the stable door. Does it look like the eyes of a giant fly to them? I have no idea but we have not really had any flies in our little barn.........I wonder if I could attach a baggie like that to his halter, lol?

Have you tried mixing the permethrin with white vinigar? I found that on line just a few days ago. Its a 50/50 mix. I also use permethrin and it works ok, but Im starting to see some great results mixed with vinigar. And as Im sure you know, this is a super cheap combo. Im not positive on how it works for deer flies but it is working great right now for stable flies and horse flies. My horses normally spend the majority of thier day in the barn (free stall) since spraying them with this mixture, they are out grazing all day long and very little tail swishing. Im loving it cause that's less poo I have to scoop!!!

I too, have heard of putting pennies in a container for flies. Does anyone have a fly predator review on it? Would like to know if it actually works.
