Fly mask 24/7

I usually put fly mask on just for the day, however my paint (with sensitive skin) was bitten by flies (bee?) in face to the point of having a big wound.

I put medication on her twice/day, and mask for the day, unfortunately by the time we get to the field in a morning there are already flies there hunting for her sore. So I was thinking about just keeping mask on 24/7 for some time. My concern is can they still see in dark with that mask on?

I've left my horses on overnight several times and he seems no worse for the wear, but I'd also be curious to what others have to say.

Major is just fine with his on, so your girl should be fine. :) Hopefully her sore gets healed up nice and quick though!

I'm also the weirdo who likes to check how well a horse can see with their fly mask before putting it on them.. I used to look through Major's to make sure it'd be okay for the day haha.

I too have had horses with fly masks on over night and they have been just fine.

If you're very worried you can get a fly mask that's more sheer for night. Roma has one but it's really fine and doesn't hold up well.

Thank you, All! I think I'll just give it a try for several days...

Most barns I've been at have their fly masks on 24/7 and haven't had a problem.

Use a black one - it's a lot easier to see out of them than the blue ones (and definitely more so than the patterned and lighter coloured ones).
