Since we have 10 horses to fly spray, we get the livestock fly spray (I forget which brand we have right now) and then dilute it into a spray bottle. It lasts a lot longer, so is much cheaper than buying 10 bottles of fly spray. It does seem to work really well also.

I use UltraShield EX and am loving it. We have these nasty black biting fly's that are horrible. This is the only stuff that I have found that literally kills them on the spot...mid-air. It has a nice citrus-y smell to it that helps to repeal flies and mosquitoes. Says it lasts for 17 Hours which may be a stretch but it lasts longer then any otherfly spray I've used. And it has a UV protectant for their coat as well.

I also use a fly repellant collar and recently got leg bands as well.

I make my own fly spray. I got tired of spending useless $$ on crappy fly spray. Now I save and the flys are kept at bay :)

I live in MN and we used Endure once, it didn't even knock the flies off the horse's legs. It did NOTHING!

Use fly masks and sheets, they help. We use a cattle spray that also can be used on horses and it knocks them dead and works. We also use that Horse and Pony spray, I think its called that. Makes them shiny. Make sure you rotate your fly sprays so the flies don't become resistant to the one you are using. Also use fly traps in your barn!

If store bought I use Bronco.. It isnt the best but it works. If I make my own... I buy a bottle of permethrin and mix with water (it will tell you how much). Just 8 oz of permethrin makes 50 gallons of fly spray!

I use a cattle spray its also for use on horses I mix it with endure works great knocks the flys dead. Last for 4 hour rides with sweaty horses.

Done horse and pony for a while quit working plus it gone up to almost 40$ a gallon. My vote is for endure and cattle spray.

I use tri tech. Not sure who makes it but its in a silver bottle. It's pricy at 22$ compared to bronco at 5$ but it has worked so far for me. When its gone I am going to buy the pyrethmin (sp?) And dilute it, I hear it works great as well.

I swear by Pyrahna! I love the stuff! Got a sample one time at the fair from our local feed store and it works wonders! My grandma has the worst flies ever! So this year everyone has fly masks on and gets sprayed down as well and it seems to work out great. I am interested in getting fly predators next year to help cut back on the little biting demons. They are horrid and love to bite out legs too.

I have used a lot of different kinds of fly spray, some work, some don't, some only work until your horse starts sweating... It seems like what works one day doesn't work the next and the bottles are so expensive to experiment with.

I got sick and tired of messing around with them so I asked my trainer what she used on her horses. Literally everyone that was standing within ear shot all started recommending human bug spray like Cutter or Off. A few days later I gave it a shot and it worked like a charm. The flies were gone immediately.

I use the family stuff that isn't greasy, like Skintastic or similar sprays. They smell nice and most of them have aloe or vitamin e in them so it's good for his coat, too.
