Is this a good deal

Or am I just attracted to the numbers?

The local horse clinic has a new "individual wellness plan" that I'm thinking of signing Ice up for. Its a 12 month membership with a one time fee of 150 dollars. That entitles you to an in-house physical examination, an examination of the muscoskeletal system (including flexion tests) and four digital radiographs for free. You also get 15 percent off anything else you want to do on that visit, like say I wanted a CBC, or additional radiographs taken they would get discounted. In addition, I also get 10% off other diagnostics or therapeutics in the future, 25% of repeat exams, and 15% off abulatory trip charges.

Even if I never use it again, it would still be really nice to know where he stands from a medical point of view. It would also help in the future, because I want to have Ice scoped for ulcers, and thats probably pretty costly.

It sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I'd do it this once, and if you aren't very satisfied with it then don't sign up for it again next year. $150 is not really all that much considering what you are getting (and the extras you could get, with the %s off of everything else). If you have the $150, and paying it isn't going to make you broke I would definitely do it.

Okay, I just had a look at Ice on your Horses page. I would definitely do it. For a former racehorse especially, it would be nice to have the radiographs. And if you are looking at doing some expensive testing, you might want to go ahead and get some labs done. And having him gone over in what sounds like a very thorough manner would be a big benefit later on should anything happen (which I hope it doesn't).

^^Exactly. I bought him for 500 dollars, so I didn't even bother to get a PPE, since it was more than what he cost! I've been really wanting to get him x rays for awhile, but 50 dollars a film and 4 legs is a lot of money!

I think 150 is a pretty good deal considering our vet costs 100 a farm call...I would do it!
