I've never heard of any adverse effects but smartpakequine sells a few different kinds so that your horse doesn't smell like a walking garlic clove lol.

I've tried Endure, Pirania, natural sprays name it from local stores. It worked for may be 5 mins and then bugs were back again. Usual problem in my area in July - Aug...

So this year I tried this product:

Scott Purdum - Advantage Horsemanship

Basically I run into it at the Horse Expo and the seller swear by it. So... I gave it a try. It indeed worked (to my big surprise). I was even asked at the cow farm (where they have LOTS of flies) what do I use on my horse, because all stuff the owner tried didn't work really, but my horse was "fly-free".
