Good news and good progress for Candi! 14 wk post op ~ Video ~

Hello everyone.

Well today the vet came out to check my mare. For those who do not know she came home from 60 days training in feb and was a tad off. I had the vet evaluate her and it was found she had OCD. She went in the foloowing week for sugery to remove the lesions from her stifles.

Thanks goodness the lesions were not on the gliding surface of the joint or I do not think we would be where we are at this time

Slowly we have been plugging away at her recovery and it has been no easy task at all.
Candi has just turned 5 and a TB so she can be a serious handful.

Anyway....The vet like what she saw with the flexion tests and said it is time to CANTER!
Okay...what great bunch of news! She has been doing long lines 5 days a week for the last 5-6 weeks with a bit of trot then walk - trot- then walk.

So today was her first Canter and she looked so good I almost cried!

Here is a video of her first canter 14 weeks post op

I am so proud of her. The vet says she looks wonderful and it is time to start building some more muscle so have a rider on her soon!

Yay yay yay.....
I cannot wait to get on my girl!

Congrats! I do remember your posts about Candi. I'm very glad she's back to canter (and everything) again!

Kitten Val.
Thanks a bunch.
She and I have worked hard together to get to this point. I am thankful to have the help from the head dressage trainer at my barn. She is an amazing woman and has been working with us both for about the last 5-6 weeks.

So cool to have a good outlook come right from the vets mouth! Lol

I think Candi looks wonderful! When will she beable to be back out onto full turnout?

You've done so much together, and I am looking forward to seeing more of the two of you! Pretty soon it'll be her wearing those ribbons on her bridle!

All the ground work you've been doing with her, will pay off in the long run with Candi, especially when you are on her back!

Looking great! <3
