I rode Romeo initially when I first went to look at him and rode him for the 2nd time today. I got hit this past tuesday so he has been here for 6 days. I have neighbors who live about 1/2 mile then another who lives about 1 mile past me and both of them you cannot see their houses. My horse has never seen them, but I know he can smell them. He ' Ne he he he, or whatever that sound is called in horse terms and looks in the direction of their place. I rode him down the dirt road where the 1/2 mile guy lives. Didn't see the horses in the pasture or anything, not sure if they were back there. I left that area and when I went to make a right on the road and head the direction of the other horses, my horse wouldnt go that side. He did that for about 3 times when I went to head that way. I turned around and rode around the yard and the other direction and went back the side of the 1 mile guy and each time he acted as if he didnt wana go.
The final time I headed that side, I got him to go about halfway, then he seemed as if he was adiment that he didn't wana go that side. The guy I bought my horse from rides with that guy that stays 1 mile out and he has had Romeo on some of the rides with them. I wonder if Romeo had a bad experience around those horses or something? I know the previous owner said that of his 5 horses, Romeo was the least aggressive and that one or some of his horses would bite him and stuff sometimes. I was just wondering if its a case of he can smell a particular horse or horses and wouldnt even want to be anywhere near the vicinity of them. Keep in mind that previous owner only rode with the 1 mile out guy, I don't think their horses were ever kept in same area or anything like overnight but not sure.
Romeo is s Gelding by the way
