Grass Sickness!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate it! Everyone be aware!

My horse Magners was just turning 3 when he got grass sickness last month. He spent 2 days in the vet hospital and then had to be put down.

I've never heard of grass sickness. Are you maybe talking about botulism?

Although I'm not entirely sure what it is, I have heard of grass sickness and there have been several cases in my area that I've heard and in every case the horse has had to be put down. From what I've heard there is very limited treatment and mostly it is fatal.

It's apparently caused by botulinum toxins, so it's a type of botulism.

I'm so very sorry. I had a friend lose a horse to botulism. It's a hard death, and very traumatic for the animal as well as the owner.

The fatality rate is almost 100%, and there's no cure.

it is horrible and lots of people dont know about it. It is more common in horses aged 2-7, dry weather, between April and July.
