I've marbled many mares and it seems to work about 85% of the time. Keeps them out of heat about 4-6 months. I started doing it for clients that don't want the hassle of using hormones. Much more cost effective, and hassle free way to keep mares out of heat.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I've owned one other mare and her heat was barely noticeable. I have worked with dozens of other mares and I've definitely worked with worse, but they always got depo shots. I will look into the mare magic. Sounds like it works for a lot of people. I can't just ignore it. I own a small business teaching lessons and she's my main lesson horse. She's not dangerous, just frustrating. Thanks!

How long does it take for Mare Magic to help?
I have an event coming up in May that I'd love if she was not is raging heat.

My mare is funny. She'll be completely fine, then we meet up with other riders...geldings, my mare turns into a hussy the entire ride. At the end of the ride, gelding go left, we go right..her head drops back to normal and she's out of heat until the next ride.

I'm not sure how long it takes to start working, she should be coming in to heat again in about a week and she's been on mare magic for about 2 weeks now, so I'll let you guys know how it goes! I talked to her old owner who has known her since birth and she said she was on mare magic whenever she was in training and it seemed to help. Her name is Breezy and when she's in heat I call her 'Sleazy Breezy' haha

Sounds like my mare, she was peeing and squatting at my trainer's place (her boyfriend was there) people thought she was lame or something! She's just a diva and likes to make babies.

My mare was and is still like this, you'll learn to ride to it out (hopefully literally) I had my vet put my mare on the depo shot for the first three months I owned her. It helped alot, only reason I found out is because she broke my foot and was freaking out for no reason, after putting her back into the pasture she did the same stuff your mare was doing but also mounting other mares a day later (my mare is so silly)

Usually I just deal with them, give correction when needed and if Im also in a bad mood I don't deal with it. Oddly and this is a bit of a TMI, my mare goes into season monthly, vet said its normal so I believe her, but my mare and I fall into our "cycles" at the same time, I start my human cycle and she starts her mare cycle a day later.

Little odd but then we both don't feel like dealing with the others crap and after that time we get along like peas in a pod.

Depo is a decent shot, and if your a woman its much better than regumate as you have to be careful with it as it can mess you up female wise and hormonally. Depo is also alot cheaper only every three months unless you plan to breed ^^

If I was the only one that rode her I wouldn't bother with the supplements, I'd just push her through it, but she works as a lesson horse. I have other horses I can use while she's in heat, but she kind of needs to earn her keep, ya know what I mean? I have been SO sick so I actually had to cancel lessons today, we'll see how she does tomorrow.
