Hard lump on face

On Thursday Jack suddenly developed a hard lump on his face. Just above where the nose band on his halter rests, I would say it's along the nasal cavity, about the size of a golf ball. It feels like a solid mass, not tender to the touch, no fever. Called the vet, he said if it's not affecting his eating or breathing, give it a few days to see if it goes away. Farrier was out Sat. And looked him over and said it wasn't an absessed tooth, but he's perplexed. Any ideas?? I will try to get a pic tomorrow.

Something like that could be one of a million things. It could be a reaction to a bug bite or maybe he scratched himself on something or bumped it on something. I would do the same as your vet, just give it a few days and see if there is any change.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/
