Question Has anyone done Alcohol Injections for high ringbone?

Has anyone done Alcohol Injections for High Ringbone on rear pasterns? I could use any information about this. My 2 yr old Friesian/ Paint had one on his left rear pastern 3 wks ago. How long before I can start ground training again?

I thought was an old sale barn trick for getting lame horses "sound" enough to make it throught the sale and loaded in someone elses trailer. 8|

Alcohol injections, as far as I know, cause temporary deadening of nerves and do not have healing power. The deadening of the nerves can make pain go away and the motor nerves do not get signals through. Alcohol injections are most frequently used to 'deaden tails' and prevent tail wringing and switching. It lasts for a few weeks and then the horse gets the feeling back.

Is this a 'true' ringbone. If it is, the horse is more than likely permanently unsound. Did it come from a traumatic injury? 2 year olds seldom get ringbone. I would get the horse to a really good leg Vet. Injections are going to be temporary at best.
