Has this happened to your horse before, or what is this?

So I have a 2 year old QH. She was perfectly healthy before we bought her, then after purchasing her and getting her settled in with our other horses within a few weeks she started acting sick. She would lay down, and she would have bad diarrhea. Then we had a vet come out several times he said she didn't colice but she had some symptoms of it. We have been giving her this kind of feed that helps clean out her system. She doesn't have diarrhea anymore, but we do not know what it is. We can get blood test if she goes down again, but I was wondering if anyone knew or had an idea of what this could be. She collapsed several times, but hasn't for four days. We're hoping she is getting better but we have no idea what it is. We are not calling another vet until she collapse again or acts sick again. Any ideas?

I would get a new vet. The horse is very sick if she is collapsing. They don't just collapse willy nilly. If you changed her feed suddenly, that could cause an upset stomach. Also, what is her HYPP status? Regardless, get a different vet out that can tell you what's wrong and go from there.

Yearling
It's to hard to tell. What was her temp, resp, refill time, skin pinch test, attitude etc? Did the vet draw a blood for a CBC, chem etc? There are so many things it could be. Viral, infection, neurological, ulcers, colic (any sort of digestive upset is defined as colic), pain, HYYP to cover a few. My first thought was stress-induced colic, maybe with ulcers playing into it. Did she have a tough time settling in to her new digs?

Good luck. I would highly reccomend running some blood and keep a close eye one her vitals. Hope she gets better soon!
