HE WON'T DROP!

When I go to clean my horse's sheath and penis, he refuses to drop it! I've tried rubbing his belly, currying his belly close to his sheath, EVERYTHING! Does anyone have any tips to get my gelding to drop?

Just reach on up there and grab it! Lol

I try to do that, but he always pulls it away. He's pretty strong down there! LOL!

My horse is the same way. I just have the vet do it. He just gets a light sedation and he drops. Just can't let him eat or anything for an hour or so afterwards...

At least that works if you can't get him to do it any other way

Ya I agree with the above post. Just get the vet out and maybe they might even have some tips for ya.

I just don't want to spend any more money than I need to. Getting the vet to clean my horse for me would be a waste of money, in my views. He will drop eventually, I just have to rub or curry his belly for a while. But, I don't want to ask the vet.

Just keep trying. ;) I'm sure he'll drop it eventually lol just try getting him excited.

Sonny also has that problem...he would not drop at all so I thought I'd need to have the vet clean his because he is a kicker if I try and get it myself. So I schedualed the appointment for the vet...and the next day I realized he drops when he does close to this one mare.

Sonny won't even drop if I comb him close to there...he's so silly haha. It takes time. Sonny refused to even let me touch his belly when I first got him (don't know how long you've had your boy) and it took 2 months for him to let me.

Yeah, I think I might just do it when my friend's mare is in heat because they are at the same place. One thing that I do to get him "excited" is to run warm water near his sheath and spray the horse up in there once or twice. That normally gets him to drop, it just takes a while.

Have some friends over and start bragging about what a well mannered guy you have.....In my case....my guys ALWAYS drop at the wrong time!!!! Maybe you can have your pastor/preacher over for dinner....
