    Hooves when its snowing

Hey, I have another question, this one about hooves. We're having a hard winter and today I noticed that he gets these "pads" of snow under his feet.. I lifted them today trying to get the snow off and it was reallly difficult. I always see this little frozen hoof print "fossils" laying around. Is this harmful for him? Im so afraid of him straining something, lol. Am I the only one with this issue? Theres not much of a way that I can see to keep this from happening and I can't constantly go down there to knocked these things off his feet. Thanks!

It is completely natural and does not harm/hurt the hoof. Although the hoof seems very hard and rigid to us, it is actually amazingly flexible and expands/contracts as they walk. Snow/mud 'fossils' are the hoof 'self cleaning'.
