I did more research, and I am sadly convinced my horse has ulcers. They say some of the causes are not being able to free feed at night, and sadly, they aren't able to all the time. Ever since they came into their pasture they have ate all the grass, pulled it all up by he roots and now their pasture looks like a desert. Every so often we get them a round bale, and they devour them pretty fast, but they only get one about once ever 2 months, and its gone in about one month flat. Their diet is Alfalfa and oats in the morning, and alfalfa and oats in the evening. But it only takes like 2 hours to eat it all. So all night they have nothing to munch on. I got some prairie grass last night, and for now on, they will constantly have free food to munch on.
Please try to understand, I am under 18, still live with my parents, and are under their care/rules. I buy everything I can with the money I make working 4 hours a day, 6 days a week. Anything I absolutely need, like farrier, or food, I try to buy, but sometimes if I am out of money, they kick in. Now, I told my mom about my worries and concerns about my horse having stomach ulcers, and she refuses to hear me. She said I am making a big deal out of nothing, and he is fine. (She is not horsey, at all) She said she will not have a vet out, and that the horse is just fine. Im lost... Even if I do buy it with my own money, she refuses. Oh my word...
E v e r y horse is good for something. You dont throw a whole life away just cause he's banged up a little...
