Horse Blankets

I just measured my horses for their blankets and I'm kind of confused. My mini mare who is only 34" tall came out to be 54" for a blanket?! Is that correct or did I make a mistake? I measure about 2 weeks ago and got a rough estimate of 45", I saw rough because we used a tape measure and she didn't like it all that much and wouldn't stand still. Then I measured my 13.3H pony and got 66" which seems more accurate with his size and all but the mini is puzzling me! Does a 34" mini usually get around a 54" blanket? Really?! Maybe she's more chunky than I thought?

Hmm... well you did it right. The first blanket size does sound wrong to me though - pretty sure a 54" was what my Oldenburg wore her first winter, before she was even a year old and she was a big baby. Probably 13 hands at the time...

I thought so too and she is the one I mostly want to blanket cuz she is 22yrs old! Figures! Well I measured 45" the first time so maybe I'll just go with that size then, I must have made a mistake but I didn't think I did, who knows! My luck is at the bottom of the barrel so doesn't surprise me! :D
