Horse freaks out when bugs are around and laying ears back

I have a friend who just bought a new horse. She hates bugs and will kick out even when no bugs are seen. She only acts bad at the walk and is fine at faster gaits. Any suggestions?

Her other problem is she lays her ears back at feeding time and if you walk up to her in the pature and acts like she wants to charge but so far hasn't. Thanks

Sounds like normal behavior for some horses.

My mare is the same problem with bugs. She thrashes all around and freaks out. But she is to afraid of the bug spray so I let her suffer. Its just normal... the pasture thing I would get after her cause one day youll try and go up to her and she could hurt you. I had the same problem except it was going to catch my gelding he charged me. I just always had a rope with me swung it around and when he came after me I went after him

If she is kicking out and acting bad even when no bugs are seen, then I bet it isn't bugs. It sounds more like a behavioral problem to me.
