    Unhappy Horse Neglect Rant.

This is just a little rant about people not taking care of their horses... There's a little middle school girl at the barn I used to ride at, and she has been leasing one of the barn's horses because she can't jump her Arab (she isn't experienced enough to jump a green o/f horse). Last summer her Arab had some serious eye issues, and had to stay in a stall pretty much all summer. The poor mare was miserable. This girl was out there almost every day to ride her lease horse, and didn't even LOOK at her own horse. She was just rotting away in her stall.
I still work at this barn once a week feeding the horses. Well, her Arab can be turned out now and is living outside. When I was feeding 2 weeks ago, the horse's tail was frozen with mud balls in it and was sticking to the leg straps of her blanket and she could BARELY walk. I took her in and cleaned her tail up, but there wasn't any vet wrap so I couldn't wrap her tail. I put her back outside, and this weekend her tail was like that again and STILL hadn't been wrapped. Mind you, the horse's owner is out there almost every day riding her lease horse. I just don't understand how she can just let her Arab rot away outside in the mud with no one to care for her. It makes me sick that some people care more about winning in shows and riding an easy horse, than they do about taking 30 minutes to care for their own horse.
And it's not just her. I've seen plenty of people have an injured horse and just stick it on the backburner and ignore it because it's no use to them.
My pony was lame for a month from an abscess, and while I was riding different horses, I was out to see him and take care of him EVERY day. I just don't understand how anyone could neglect someone they love =[ Horse's have hearts, too, and they just want someone to love them. As hard as they work for their owners, they deserve it.

If that's the worst they neglect them, life isn't so bad! Some of us are better owners than others.

Ohh I know it could always be worse. It just makes me sad to see horses like that.
