horse with no teeth

We have a 4 year old mare that we got 2 years ago. After having tooth problems (had to have them floated when she was 2-3, they were really, really sharp), the vet did some xrays and determined that she had no adult teeth under her gums. Now that she has lost her baby teeth, she has almost no teeth. She has a few in front, but they are not in good condition.

When we got her, she was so horrible looking, malnourished, not been handled. We have loved her, fed her, fattened her up and worked with her. She may never be more than a pasture pet as she isn't very big, maybe 13.2, and has a sway back.

Has anybody ever experienced a YOUNG horse without teeth? I know senior horses lose theirs but I haven't heard of a horse this young without teeth.

First thing that comes to mind is, are you sure of the age?

Yes, she was approx 1.5- 2 years old when we got her. This was how pitiful she looked

Interesting. Hmm. I'm sorry, but I have never encountered this and really have no advice... :(
