Horse not finishing all of her grain.

So I've had my mare 4 months and yesterday the lady who feeds mornings told me she didn't eat all of her grain which is unusual for her. She ate most just not all. But when I got to the barn she had gut sounds an was munchin on hay and grass.
Yesterday we moved my guys to a new barn where I now feed my horses myself. Well this morning she was distracted which idont blame her and was more interested in harassing my gelding when he was eating. I got her to eat most of it but there was still some left in the pan. It isn't too much for her because she only gets about 4 handfuls of grain with supplements. The last two days I have been putting electrolytes in her grain the last two times that she didnt really finish it so that may be the culprit. But, I've put them in her grain before and she's eaten it all up.

Today she was just more distracted and she ate most of it but not sure what's going on here, suggestions? She's eating and drinking everything else like normal. We've been watering down her grain for the last month because the cosequin will sink to the bottom of the bucket if we don't. Maybe I shouldn't water it next time? Any help?!

If everything else is normal I would suspect the electrolytes too. I have a few that will only pick at grain with lytes in it. I found that putting the lytes in a separate area works to keep them eating & they can decide if the want the lytes.

I've given them to her before and she ate them but I haven't given them to her since I started her on cosequin so maybe the two mixed might not taste too well.

Well, she just might not like the taste, or she's busy checking out her new place. If she's doing fine other than that, I wouldn't worry about it.
As for supplements, mix the water/supplements with a handful of grain first (I use hot water), and then add the rest of the grain to mix with it. That way the grain isn't all wet and mushy, but the supplements won't get lost.

Probably the electrolytes. My horse isn't a fan either. What I found works is getting plain hay pellets, mixing a handful of those with applesauce and the electrolytes. I let them sit for a bit until it turns into an appley-hay mush then feed it.

What time are you feeding them? How old is the mare? Does she polish up her grain at night? It might be the heat. If you are in the USA its been brutal. I have an old mare that is a bit of a slow eater in the morning but polishes her food off at night. She eats like a champ in the winter and is picky in the summer. She is bothered by the heat and it affects her appetite. She is in good weight and we spoke to our vet who check her out when we first noticed it. I would remove the lytes for 24 hours see if it makes a difference. Than I would ask your vet it might be something more sinister.

I feed at 5 am but she was being fed around 7 am previously. My friend thought it was the heat too. She doesn't get fed at night. Just alittle in the Am for her supplements.

It had to of been the lytes. She gobbled up her grain today and I didn't put any in
