My horse managed to sliced his upper lip about 1cm deep we checked his stall multiple times and couldn't find anything. Anyway the cut goes clean through, the owner of the barn and a nurse who has a horse at the barn said it looks like it doesn't need a stitch and that their mouths heal very well. I'm trusting/hoping they're right but I was just wondering, has anybody had something like this happen? Should it heal up ok? The cut goes straight up about 1cm like I said, right about where his bit would go : / it wasn't the bit though he just started riding it hasn't been in much at all.
Edit: Also anybody have something safe that they would recommend to put on the cut? I went to use some stuff I had but the label said "warning to humans: caused cancer in lab rats" so I figured I don't want to touch it and I don't want my horse touching it.
