Just yesterday I was lamenting about Finn's on-going one-ball status, figuring I had a crypto on my hands. He was originally scheduled to be gelded as a yearling (he's now 14 months) and my vet wanted to wait and give him more time, until the end of summer, because his first testicle didn't descend until almost 8 months of age. He was checked again a week and a half ago, the vet said he could feel the second testicle in the canal (thank goodness it wasn't still in his abdomen) but it was still too high to go in after yet, and just be patient. (Poor kid is going to be a breeze to clean his sheath, he's so used to having his manly bits handled. I've not hesitated to have a "check", but the vet had crammed nearly his whole arm up there and Finn just sat there with a surprised look on his face.) But today I was trimming his back feet and just happened to glance up - and I could see something! Dropped my nippers and had a feel, and sure enough, testicle # 2 is sticking about halfway out! It's not completely out yet, but it's definitely low enough to be removed with just a standard gelding now - and here I'd been scrimping and pinching for months figuring I was going to have a whopping major-surgery bill at the end of summer. Drinks are on me tonight!

woooo!! and Finn is getting so big too!! Sparta has one partially down i assume since i can only see it when he is laying down and i roll him on his back. you can see the little lump there and it will move around but you can't see it hanging yet! and Finn is going to make a gorgeous HUGE Gelding! = )
