Thanks for the responses.. It's really good to hear from someone who lives there. The Ext. Agent emailed me again today talking about the drought and lack of snow this year. Letting me know to look for well right for livestock.. I remember reading that some wells (if there is a well at all) are only for residential use and you have to haul in water for the stock in some cases.

As for the hay.. being new to the area it will be a learning curve to find out who the 'real' farmers are where I can buy hay. I would be thrilled to buy a tractor trailer load and split if needed..but I use a lot of hay.., good chance I can use it all. The farmer I buy hay from here actually sells his hay to the haulers that take it out that way. Other problem though will be not having a tractor to unload..

Thanks everybody.. I know this is doable.. Right not it's just a 50% chance we'll be sent there. But I have to be prepared just in case..

I have a couple great hay guys that deliver, feel free to message me when you get to Colorado and need some hay. My husband works on Peterson Air Force base did you say if you were army or air force?

We're Army so will be reporting to Fort Carson. Thanks a bunch for the hay info.. Now I just wait to see where they send us. One good thing I found out about that area around the Springs, is there are several properties for rent with acreage and fencing. We normally buy and sell every PCS, but I would rather not buy on the front range there so renting is something we're looking into..

    Thanks Again!
