Our girls are out 24/7. The only time they are restricted is when they are kept in the much smaller sacrifice paddock to save the pasture during very muddy times or if it's getting over-grazed.
Holly is currently restricted to the stall at night and paddock/stall in the daytime due to being close to foaling.

My guys used to be turned out 24/7 at the old barn, but I've been keeping them in at night since we brought them home. So they get about 12 hours of turnout a day. It seems to be working pretty good. They stand at their stalls waiting to be brought in every evening and they're in no hurry to go out in the morning. I think they enjoy their quiet time. I would never keep a horse stalled 24/7. I've never met a happy stall-kept horse.
