How old? *Pictures*

I bought this mare as "20 years old"
Checked her teeth when she came here, looks 12-15 IMO
Vet came for a coggins on another horse, he checked her teeth and said he'd call her 12.
I know its hard to see in pictures, but what would you call her?
Body wise she doesn't look twenty but neither does my twenty four year old mare who is registered and for sure that age.
This mares teeth aren't even close to hers, again leading me to the 12-15 guess.

I would go with what the vet said. Looks like you got a horse a little younger than you thought. :] Good or bad thing??

My guess would be some where around there .
If a vet checked her and said that's her approx age then she'd have a more acurate guess then us.

You CLEARLY haven't met a Northern Michigan vet. I've had some pretty interesting "diagnosis" from these guys.
I was thinking the same thing he thought however, she is a training horse so I'd like to list her accurately.

As far as good or bad thing, I guess that's great since she is a training project.

Her teeth look about the same as my gelding's, and he's 14... SO I'd say around there.

Yeah, I think she's more in the 12-15 range, being closer to 12. She has the beginning of the Galvayne's groove, or so it looks in the photos. That's the easiest way for me to tell. :)

It can be hard to judge age by looking at the front teeth. Horses can wear their front teeth down naturally, or they can be floated down by a good equine dentist. Here's a good article about aging horses by their teeth.

Can you get pics of the inside of the teeth? Or are her teeth oval or more angled in shape when looked at from the top of the tooth (with mouth open)? I want to say she is closer to the 16-18 year old range, but again, from those pics alone it's hard to tell.
