How death mentioned

I'm on the phone with my mom. Some time in the night last night my little brothers mare died. (my mom has a set of foster children much younger than me) For years I have fought with her not to have horses on her property because noone really takes care of them correctly, but they are grained and hayed.
Seems she colicked, they walked her all night and treated her but lost her anyway. The other horse has been removed from the property as it belonged to someone else and my mom has decided to listen to me finally.
Makes me sad for my brother, but more for the horse, because to me she shouldn't have been there.
RIP Sugar, may you land in a pasture full of grass and room to run.

Thank you so much. Feels odd to have a little brother the same as as ones child by the way.
