Question Hurt Eye, need advice for care till vet can get out.

So I recently was given a gelding and a mare, well two days after officially owning this gelding he got kicked in the face by a pasture mate.

I called the vet, she said Keep it clean, rubbing it down (lightly) with warm watery cloth (hard to keep the cloth warm while in 40 degrees F or lower but I try to my best abilities) and rinse it out once a day with warm water.

I've been doing this, his eye was White from it being hurt, my vet said a few weeks and it should be better. She didn't think he'd have Long term sight damage because he did have sight in the eye even though it was cloudy. Well now its not as cloudy but the drainage off of it has an, well its not a Noticeable smell but its an off smell. I don't know how to better describe it, so since I feel off about it I wanted to call her out to the farm to look it over and give him a check up. But its Christmas, and I can't get a hold of her. So I need some first hand advice on what I can do to help his eye along with the careful cleaning around it.

Also, he's face shy so its difficult to clean it I was told he got smacked in the face as a young stud due to bad behavior. So I will take all advice and use it to the best of my abilities though something difficult may be harder to due then others.

I have a picture of his eye as an attachment but its mostly a shot of the drainage, when it wasn't so bad, now it literally Drips off his face. I clean it and then its back within 20 minutes -__-

Any type of bandage or something on his face would just be pulled off or rubbed off

    Thanks
