Hurt hock

So I bought my horse from a Auction like two weeks ago...hes doing pretty good....When we got him I found the owner and asked about him and she said he got kicked in the trailer...he was loaded in a big trailer with a bunch of horses...the wound was fresh on his hock its got like two shallow gashed like the back part of another horse shoe got I said hes healing up pretty good when he got home I had atleast his front feet trimed and today had his front shoes put on and back trim all nice..really made a difference..hes real tinder foots poor gashes are almost healed I been cleaning and treating them every day cause he loves to roll and get filthy lol..but he still has a bit of swelling...and I can take pictures this afternoon of his back legs to show the difference..I can really tell the swelling has went down and hes walking alot better..but I am thinking its not all going to go down till all his scrapes are healed...has anyone else had a horse that got kicked and swelled how long did it take for the horses swelling to go down..I haven't ridden him and I had him all stall rest until recently I walked him around the arena and he loved it didn't seem to worse for wear..

I know I am rambling...

Just want other peoples experiences with these kind of injuries..I read that some horses even healed all the way the swelling can just stay sometimes even with the horse walking normal...I think in another few weeks he will be all better even though its swelled he only has a little hitch in his step...I still wont ride him till I know hes feeling better but I am going to start walking him more just to help stretch the muscles and get the blood pumping in that thing he loves is when I wash his leg I kind of massage it and he closes his eyes and just relaxes
