Question Importing Advice

Ok, so I'm on the road towards importing Brabants from Belgium. I'm already in contact with the breeder/stable which I'm getting my horses from and also already have the transportation/shipping lined up. I do have to wait at least another year though because the stable doesn't have what I'm looking for this year (I want to import 2 weanling fillies and they only have colts this year, and for such a big investment - $22,000 -, I'd rather get what I want) so I have to wait. It's a good thing though I guess, it gives me more time to prepare.

Has anyone else ever imported? Any advise? I've never imported before and while I'm doing everything I can think of to prepare, sometimes others think of things we don't. Thanks
