Don't worry so much. If she's infected, you'll know it real soon, babies go down fast. If she's still bright and eating, she's probably ok, just sick of being squeezed and having the iodine put on the stump, especially if you used strong iodine (7%) not the 2%. The strong Iodine burns a bit and they do fuss. OOOPS< never mind, I read that you used 2% not 7, just skipped over that I guess. But she could still just be fussy.

She's been laying down a lot today which has me more concerned but the vet will be here in 30mins so I will find out soon what's going on with the little girl.

Well the vet was just out and gave us antibiotics for her. Her temp was 102.7 just a little high. Figured we better be safe rather than sorry. He said to dip her navel twice a day til it falls off.

can't wait to hear how she progresses, how is she doing so far? Im not a huge expert at these things - but what are the rings around the mare's face in the second pic - can't tell if they are markings.. thinking ringworm but I am NOT an expert AT ALL..

hope she gets well soon. Infected navals are serious. I used iodine on one foal ,it got sick, the Vet was out, it died at day 3 :( .. The second foal we used a different product Novulson, it kills bacteria etc and we have my pretty Mimi.
