    Cowgirlsboots, just before Christmas our temps were all over the map, even going up to 60*F on several days. My horses were not comfortable with these temps and their wooly coats so spent a good deal of the day lying down in the snow. I also noticed they licked ice frequently so I've wondered if this is a cooling mechanism. They'd had plenty of water.

    This has happend a couple times where he'll sweat. He's usually just a bit damp and I can tell cause his hair will dry weird. The first time he did it I thought he was sick and took his temp and he was fine. But none of the other horses at the barn sweat when it's 45+ (that I know of)
