Keeping horse records, what is the best way?

Help! I have a medium sized horse operation and have been toying with the idea of buying a software program to help me manage my records. The problem is, there are so many out there and I am not sure which ones are actually useful and easy to manage. I also have a small breeding program that I am having trouble keeping up with. If anyone has any ideas or comments I would greatly appreciate the advice!

Thank you!

Well if its a computer program, you may lose it if your computer crashes.
How about folders or a binder for each horse.

If you do the computer route copy all your info onto a disk that way if computer crashes you still have your info.

We usually use Excel- but we keep a binder for each horse in the barn (filing cabinet in the tackroom) with hard copies so that it is easy to jot down notes etc. If there is an emergency and you need to look something up for the vet you don't always have time to run to the nearest computer!

What about the online record keeping options? Wouldn't that prevent lost info.
