    Lizz,
    The quantity of grass that your girls are picking is very low compared with what the horses would eat out on pasture. Even if they are ambitious and make several trips. The girls are spending time with the horses, and giving them attention; that's a good thing. Now, if you can just teach them how much fun it is to clean tack.

    I work at a riding school, so obviously there are a lot of children around. They allways grab some handfulls of grass from the paddock and feed it to the ponies in their stables. Although I don't know any of the science behind this it has been going on for years as you would imagne and has never effected the animals. Its also great for the horses as they get more and more used to and trustworhty of the people.
