lingering abscess??

My 4 yo paint was gelded a little over 2 years ago. For the past approx 8 to 9 months we have been dealing with a large abscess in the area where he was gelded. It fluctuates in size from golf ball to it's largest being slightly larger than a baseball. It occassionally drains a tan puss to clear liquid. Placed him on an antibiotic, didn't touch it. Cultured it came back MRSA. Opened it, flushed with betadine wash and did an ultrasound. Nothing showed on the ultrasound. Seemed to be clearing up and now it's back again. I have made multiple vet calls but since he isn't running a fever, is not affecting his preformance or any other part of his daily routine they aren't jumping to do anything. Advice? Opinions? Has anyone dealt with something like this before? I fear that if it does not stay encapsulated the infection could move elsewhere. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I wonder if it might be a reaction to the inside suture if they used any? Most of the time we just use the emasculator and crush the cords, but I have seen the vet use suture, especially on older horses. Wonder if for some reason if suture was used, his body is reacting to it? Might be a way out thought, but what the heck.

Needs to be ultrasounded again because I have a horse that has an abcess with nothing inside it was an abcess but now its just and air pocket that hasent finished healing
