lump on young horses chest

We have a 4yr old filly that 3 weeks ago developed a baseball sized lump on the L side of her chest where a breast collar would lay just right next to center. Thought maybe she was kicked. It feels very solidand firm not liquid filled. She seems a little dumpy but but otherwise it doesnt seem painful eating well and out in the pasture. The vet saw her a week ago and said he thought she was kicked and that it was in the muscle. We are giving bute and applying dmso gel. It has been a week since treating her and and now she is losing the hair on the lump. It is still hard and bigger than my hand spread out. A week ago it got very large for 1 day atleast 12 inches verticle then went back to the hand sized lump thought maybe was adema? She is with 2 other mares on full feed prairie hay bale and full 10 acre pasture. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Any heat or pain? Did the vet stick a needle in it?
