I have heard of worse. It's a good thing she has passed manure, just keep doing what you're doing!

See if you can take her pulse temperature and respiration rate for when the vet comes and have her medical history by the hand. Goodluck!

How is she breathing? How is her body temperature? Gum color? Are there no other vets who can make it out sooner. She can't be vomiting--are you sure she's not choking?
NorthernMama, smrobs and natisha like this.

I agree...sounds more like choking than collicking.

I agree because a horse cannot vomit so anything coming from the mouth is probably not able to go all the way down.

Massage her throat and see if there is an obstruction you can feel.

There is no way she was choking...it was drool rather then vomit come to find out...in my panic I just didnt think about horses not being able to vomit. I had a very very horse experienced friend stop over and one of the first things she did was check out her neck/throat as she found the drooling strrange as well....The vet never came...I live in quite a rural area and the one vet that was willing to come out hasnt...I figure with it being a weekend and a holiday weekend...anyways she didnt make it...went down very suddenly thrashed around for maybe 5 mins and passed :'(

Very sorry to hear that.

It doesn't sound to me like "typical" colic, though, to have progressed so rapidly to the point of death. I wonder if she had some kind of internal tumor/rupture/hemorrhaging....
