Muscle Injury Healing?

My horse ended up with a muscle injury about two months ago. For about the first month I just hand walked him. The last few weeks I have been gradually building up at the trot. I am getting really worried. The time keeps getting longer that he needs. At first I was supposed to use him for a show this past weekend. But two weeks before I was told he would be able to do the movements (1st level 3 dressage) but I wouldn't be able to perpair. Two weeks later we are still not able to canter and I have only trotted him 4 laps in each direction and ridden for 30min total a day. How long do these things take to heal!?!? The barn manager is calling the chiropractor for some of her horses Wednesday and were going to include him because she thinks he just from compensating some other stuff got out of line. How long do you think it will take before he is back to normal? I miss riding him like crazy and I really want my baby back.
