My friend's horse's hips

We had a show yesterday and everything was going great till the first event for my friend. She was riding her horse around and BOTH of the horse's hips were CLICKING you could hear it from the other side of the arena. She isn't lame, has no pain in back, hips, or legs and she is acting like herself and even ran a great time in barrels. What could cause this. The horse is 14yrs old has Equine Metabolic Disease and about two months ago kicked the trailer but hasn't been off.

Im just curious as to what others think it is. we thought it was a tendon they are getting the vet out today.

Are you hearing the joints actually click or is it possible the back hoof striking the opposing leg or front? That is definitely more common and it is often hard to catch unless you are looking for it.

Definitely see what the vet says but I have a mare that has had a click in her hip for about 20 years and never showed a hint of lameness. Sometimes they just snap and crackle, kinda like people do.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

That's what we thought it was at first because they had a horse like that before but we watched and when we heard clicks her feet were perfect distance from each other. We had someone walk next to her hips while listening to them and when she walked you heard loud clicks from both sides.
