He was already on an allergy herbal blend that is working for his dust/mold/pollen allergies so all I did was bath him down with MalAcetic shampoo (also for skin allergies on animals).
Then, stupid as this may sound it works, I dabbed hemerhoid ointment on each of the welts because that is sort of what it's for anyway - lollol It's a good thing he didn't have that many
When he came in at night I would cold hose him down and wipe the dirt off, re-apply the hemerhoid ointment and stick his face in front of hay & a fan.
MalAcetic shampoo is all natural and I have never seen anything mellow a horse out at bath like that stuff does.
I just gave him another bath in it this morning. Even at 16 yrs, he is still a wiggle-worm when it comes to a bath, but the second he feels that stuff on him he quiets right down.
It is pricey, so I only use it when a horse needs it and I have one dog that also needs bathed in it.
A little bit goes a long way, which is good considering the price "DermaPet" MalAcetic Shampoo for Dogs and Cats (ONE GALLON)
